Alila
Ubud - one of the 50 most beautiful pools in the
world
If you were to rank the 50 most beautiful hotel
swimming pools in the world, then Alila Ubud would
be right up there at the top (actually it is –
seen on the the cover of Travel and Leisure). Moving
from the pool bar into the cool depths, the water’s
surface seems to flow endlessly through the terraced
jungle and reach up to the sky.

3 Hotel Groups
to Watch in Asia: …" Alila Hotels and
Resorts - A relatively new player to join the ranks
of a select breed of operators that specialise in
sexy, stylish, high-end boutique hotels and resorts
in Asia. The company's first property debuted in
Jakarta in 2001; another two high profile Bali properties
( the Chedi Ubud and the Serai Manggis) expanded
the portfolio in 2002, and the company continues
to make ground, recently signing another resort
in Phuket. We believe Alila should be a player to
watch, particularly since it has pedigree to back
it up (the company is headed by founding partners
of GHM Indonesia and Mandara Spa)."

Abercrombie and Kent are delighted
at the strengthened relationship with the Alila
properties. We view them as ideal for our clients
as they represent value for money without sacrificing
style or design. Two-centre stays offer the best
of everything with ideal locations;the heart of
Bali near Ubud and the largely untouched East
Coast at Manggis. The unique cultural activities
offered by both properties give clients an insight
into the traditions of Bali that are rarely appreciated
by the average traveller. This sits well with
the A&K philosophy of responsible tourism
and is just one of the many reasons we are delighted
to be in partnership with Alila."

I’d
like to thank you for your hospitality and for the
attention you’ve had your staff given to our
event all week… I must say the rooms are excellent
and the services we have gotten from each and every
staff in the rooms, front desk, buzz café,
bell boys, everyone here has been warm and cordial.
To make the most impression and I would appreciate
if you did let them know. The first is Karno who
waited on us regardless of how late it was and how
difficult it was to meet our needs. The second is
Ferry, driver extraordinaire. He not only drives,
he ensures our safety and is incredibly considerate
and helpful. 2 assets to any hotels!

Manggis - Dive Experience at Manta Point
Yes, the manta rays were really amazing...it's a
really wonderful experience when you get to see
one, like time stands still. Throughout the dive
there were about 12 that appeared one by one (!!!!),
and although the water was very cold and we were
all hugging ourselves, none of us wanted to come
out! When they appear, it's like a large underwater
spaceship....but too graceful to be a real spaceship!

When Alila Jakarta opened
in 2001, it was the first for the capital. ..Behind
an imposing grey concrete exterior of two 27
storey towers lies a striking modernity. Conceptualized
by architect Budiman Hendropurnomo of local
firm Denton Corker Marshall, first impressions
reveal strong geometric forms and an efficient
aesthetic. Black granite floors, huge mirrors,
clean-lined seating and a giant contemporary
artwork of coloured wood strips by Pieter Dietmar
characterize the lobby lounge… Guest rooms,
which range in size from 37 to 84 sq meters
(400 to 900sq feet), are unembellished –
but unblemished.
June 2005 - Asian
Style Hotels showcases the best hotel and resorts
in Bali, Java, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
Each has been hand-picked according to a set
of criteria that includes a strong design aesthetic,
architectural integrity, a commitment to service
and sense of individuality a million mile away
from the cookie-cutter approach of chain hotels

The venue was just gorgeous.
Lovely balmy evening on the rooftop... Couldn't
have asked for anything better. Also, wanted
to let you know that I really LOVED Kemang Icon.
What a gem...! Ronnie was wonderfully hospitable,
as were all the staff, and the place itself...
I think it is gorgeous. Many congratulations.
It has all the facilities you need, plus high-end
service. Very impressive.
